One of the best parts of the GOOD // SWEAT community is the private Facebook group (accessible with the purchase of any guide). With nearly 10,000 members, the group brings together women of different ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels, making it an ideal place to connect, learn, and find support from like-minded people.
The 8-week Strength Guide can feel intimidating at first—especially if you’re used to at-home workouts, studio classes, or haven’t lifted heavy before. But this program is designed for all levels, from beginners to advanced lifters. I’ve completed the guide five times and each round has made me stronger. The workouts are consistently effective. Below are tips and encouragement gathered from the community to help you start confidently or get the most out of your next round.
Trust yourself and trust the process.
Use the guide, but adapt it to your needs. If you need extra rest days, take them. The program intentionally starts light in weeks 1 and 2—do not rush these phases. Starting too heavy can cause an early plateau. Giving yourself the full eight weeks to progress will deliver better long-term results.
Be patient.
Don’t try to set a personal record every week. Constantly chasing soreness or one-off heavy lifts isn’t the goal. Progress is about finding a sustainable pace that supports steady growth over time.
Take up space!
No one at the gym is focused on you, so focus on your own work. Use the equipment you need and don’t hesitate to ask to share or to check when someone will be done. You have every right to claim your time and space.
Find a friend or accountability partner.
Accountability helps. If you can’t train together in person, create a group chat to check in, share wins, and ask questions you might be hesitant to ask in the gym. A small support system makes staying consistent easier.
Prep ahead.
Preparation saves time and improves workouts. Review the Weekly Check-in and Checklist before you head to the gym, watch form videos when needed, and give yourself enough time for a proper warm-up and mobility work.
Focus on form.
Prioritize technique over load. The guide begins with lighter weights for a reason. As you progress to heavier lifts, keep your form a top priority—if form breaks down, reduce the weight. Consistent, well-executed reps drive faster and safer progress.
Make the most of the education.
Read the guide thoroughly. Many common questions are already answered in the intro, FAQ, and exercise captions. The program was designed with detailed tips, cues, and guidance—take advantage of that information to maximize your results.
Prioritize protein.
Your appetite may increase as you lift heavier, especially in the second half of the program. That’s normal—your body needs nutrients to recover and rebuild. Aim to eat more on training days and focus on adequate protein to support lean muscle. A useful benchmark is roughly 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight over time, with 25–40 grams per main meal as a practical target. Increase intake gradually to see what works for you.
Track your progress.
Use the tracking features in the guide and write down weights week to week. Documenting progress helps you see improvements and know when to increase weight. It’s motivating and practical for steady progression.
Lean on the community.
Make use of the private Facebook group included with the program. Members are ready to answer questions and cheer you on. Pro tip: use the group’s search function to find past threads on topics you’re curious about—your question may already have a helpful answer.
Listen to your body.
Try not to skip or swap workouts frequently, as changing the schedule can disrupt progress. Instead, add an extra rest day if a muscle group feels especially sore, or opt for active recovery like walking and stretching so you’re ready for your next session.
If you’re ready to get stronger over the next 8 weeks, it’s never too late to begin. Pick up the Strength Guide and join the Facebook community to connect with others and access the program resources.
