Broiling transforms a chilled grapefruit into a warm, caramelized treat. This simple method brings out sweetness and softens the fruit, making it perfect for a quick breakfast, snack or light dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 grapefruit
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Coconut oil spray

Instructions

  • Set your oven to high broil (about 500°F / 260°C).
  • Cut the grapefruit in half. If you like, score each segment by cutting shallow lines along the flesh to make serving easier; this step is optional because the broiling softens the fruit.
  • Lightly coat the cut surfaces with coconut oil spray and sprinkle evenly with cinnamon.
  • Place the grapefruit halves on a baking sheet and broil for 5–7 minutes, until the tops begin to brown and caramelize. Remove from the oven and serve warm. Enjoy!
