Even more delicious than the original, this deconstructed caramel apple is scary good.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup dark chocolate
- 1/2 cup caramel, *notes below
- 1-2 granny smith apples, chopped
- 1 cup pretzels, chopped
- flakey sea salt
Instructions
-
Melt the dark chocolate over low heat in a small saucepan, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
-
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour the melted chocolate into an even layer on the parchment, then place the baking sheet in the freezer to firm up (about 20 minutes).
-
When the chocolate is set, spread the caramel evenly over the surface. Sprinkle the chopped apples and pretzels across the caramel, then finish with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
-
Return the bark to the freezer for another 15–20 minutes to fully set. Break or chop into pieces and serve. Store in the refrigerator for best texture.
Notes
*For a simple homemade option, use a 3-ingredient caramel (sweetened condensed milk, butter, and brown sugar) — cook until thickened. Adjust amount and temperature as needed when spreading over chilled chocolate.
