Creamy Avocado Chocolate Mousse Recipe for Decadent Desserts

I’ve been wanting to make avocado chocolate mousse for a while, and I’m so glad I finally did. The result was rich and velvety—true decadence without junk ingredients. This mousse is packed with healthy fats, fiber, antioxidants, and trace minerals, making it a dessert worth trying.

The base is two ripe avocados for creaminess, combined with a nut milk (I used REBBL Dark Chocolate Protein Elixir), raw cacao powder, maple syrup, and a few shakes of cinnamon for warmth and depth.

REBBL’s Dark Chocolate Protein Elixir adds 16g of plant-based protein from pea, pumpkin, and sunflower, plus adaptogens like maca, reishi, and ashwagandha. These ingredients can support hormone balance, energy, liver function, cognitive performance, and endurance. I often use such elixirs in recipes to boost flavor and nutrition. On its own, the dark chocolate elixir tastes like an indulgent chocolate shake, which made it a perfect addition to this mousse.

This dessert is raw, plant-based, and comes together in minutes. Avocados contribute healthy monounsaturated fats for heart and brain health, plus phytonutrients, antioxidants, soluble fiber to help stabilize blood sugar, fat-soluble vitamins A, E, and K, and notable amounts of vitamins C and B. Most importantly, they give the mousse an irresistibly creamy texture.

Cacao—not to be confused with cocoa—is especially rich in antioxidants and nutrients including protein, magnesium, calcium, carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, sulfur, and many phytochemicals. Compared to processed dark chocolate, raw cacao retains a much higher concentration of beneficial compounds.

What’s the difference between cacao and cocoa?
Cacao refers to the raw plant and its beans. When the raw beans are gently processed at low temperatures, cacao butter separates and the remaining solids are ground into raw cacao powder, preserving vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. Cocoa, by contrast, is processed at higher temperatures, which reduces bitterness and enzyme content but also diminishes nutrient levels. Many commercial cocoa powders also contain added sugars and fillers. In short, the processing temperature largely determines whether a product is labeled cacao or cocoa.

For sweetening, I prefer natural options like honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, dates, vanilla, or cinnamon. In this mousse, maple syrup combined with the subtle sweetness of the REBBL elixir worked beautifully.

Try this Avocado Chocolate Mousse for a quick, nutritious dessert. It’s simple, satisfying, and surprisingly indulgent.
