CABO. Where do I start? This is where Bridger and I celebrated our ninth anniversary and where he proposed—absolutely dreamy.
This was my third trip to Cabo and we stayed at Grand Velas Los Cabos, a luxury all-inclusive resort that made the visit extra special. Between the resort itself and the engagement, this trip is one I will never forget. I’ll start with the hotel and then share details about the proposal.

The resort is located in San José del Cabo, about 30 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas. I liked that—closer to the airport and a bit less touristy and crowded, which felt more relaxing. We took an Uber into Cabo San Lucas one day; it was a quick, scenic drive, but we were always happy to return to a calmer, more exclusive-feeling area.

Our room took our breath away. We had a private plunge pool on the balcony, complimentary room service and minibar, and beautiful ocean views. Being all-inclusive was a game changer—there’s something so freeing about not having to check prices or pull out your wallet. Having our own little retreat made downtime feel luxurious.

During our four-day stay we dined at three of the resort’s restaurants. There are six total, so we didn’t try them all, but everything we ate was delicious. For dinner we enjoyed Frida and Cocina de Autor, and each morning we ate at Azul’s breakfast buffet. I’m still thinking about the veggie omelette, guacamole and pico, breakfast potatoes and fresh pineapple. The buffet offered healthy options and the poolside dishes—ceviche, organic salads with chicken, and chips with guacamole—were equally memorable.

Cocina de Autor was a highlight: a seven-course tasting menu crafted by a two-Michelin-starred chef. Photos can’t capture how exceptional the meal was. The kitchen accommodated my dairy and gluten intolerances across every course, which was thoughtful and impressive for an all-inclusive property.
The on-site spa, Se Spa, was outstanding. We enjoyed the hydrotherapy ritual that included a revitalizing shower, herbal steam, a two-temperature lagoon, Jacuzzi time, and a multi-jet Swiss shower. Bridger and I both had personalized therapeutic massages afterwards—pure bliss, especially after a morning workout. I highly recommend the spa.

There are four pools on the property, each with its own vibe. The adults-only pool nearest the beach became our go-to spot. I appreciated that the resort offered choices depending on whether guests were traveling with children. We loved being able to hop from pool to the ocean and back depending on the tide or our mood. If you prefer beaches or pools, this place has you covered—the infinity pool with white sand and Mexican sun was my favorite spot.

The fitness center was impressive—large, spotless, and well-equipped with every machine you could want. Cardio machines face the ocean, and the whole space reflects the resort’s focus on wellness. It’s easily one of the best hotel gyms I’ve seen.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The resort has earned endless awards and great reviews for good reason—it’s one of the highest-rated hotels in San José del Cabo. The staff were exceptional, each guest has a personal concierge who texts you, the food and amenities were excellent, and being all-inclusive made the stay effortless. Grand Velas Los Cabos delivered on every level.
Now that you know how much I loved the hotel, here’s the proposal story.
TO THE PROPOSAL

Bridger and I have been together nine years. Looking back, we briefly dated in middle school and then reconnected in high school—ever since then we’ve been inseparable. I suspected a special moment might come on this trip, but he still managed to exceed all expectations.
He rented the hotel’s yacht, The Bella, for a sunset cruise and proposed in front of Cabo’s iconic Arch. It was the most perfect setting—sunset, the ocean, and that magical moment when he went down on one knee. After I said yes, nearby boats cheered, which was adorable and a little embarrassing, but unforgettable.

Back at the resort there was a second surprise: a private beach screening of the movie we watched on our first date—The Social Network. They set up a cabana, snacks, drinks and popcorn with a large inflatable screen right on the sand beneath the stars. It was one of the most thoughtful and romantic gestures anyone has done for me.

We couldn’t be happier. We always knew marriage would be in our future but never rushed tradition—over the past few years we saved and recently bought our first home together. Everything felt right this summer, and the timing of the proposal was perfect.
For Bridger’s anniversary gift I booked nine holes at Cabo Real Golf Club, just a five-minute Uber away. He loves golf, so it was a fun way to celebrate and a nice break before relaxing back at the pool.

We can’t wait to return to Cabo. We loved it before, and now it’s even more meaningful.
